The winter solstice begins on Thursday, December 22, 2011 at 12:30 am EST. The Sun moves into Capricorn, inspiring us to work hard, be ambitious and get all those last minute christmas tasks completed. This is the shortest day of the year in the northern hemisphere, the longest day in the southern hemisphere. For us in the north, it is a time of going inward and reflecting on our 2011, then meditating to create a plan for a healthy, happy, prosperous 2012.

What Is Astrology … Really ???

Astrology is a lot more than just your sun sign. Most people know their sun sign, and whether they have Sun in Leo or Sun in Aquarius. They read their sun sign horoscope in the paper, and then say, astrology is just entertainment. Well, there is a lot more to astrology than simply your sun sign. Where is your Moon ? Where is your Venus ?? Where is your Mars ?? And what do these things mean ?? How can this information help me ?? And what does this have to do with spirituality and relationships ??

One can tell a lot from an astrological birth chart, or natal chart. A natal chart is an astrological chart erected at one's exact date, time and place of birth. The chart shows what sign each of the planets is in, as well as what house each planet is in. The planets are like the actors in a play, the zodiac signs are like the personality of the actors, and the house is the stage upon which the play is set. For example, let's say the moon is in cancer in the 7^th house. The moon represents a persons emotions, cancer is a very caring and nurturing sign, and the 7^th house is the house of marriage partnerships. So, you can say that this individual is very emotionally satisfied when in a nurturing and caring marriage or relationship, and will search out this type of relationship. The Moon's sign indicates the emotionality of the person. Mercury identifies how a person communicates. Venus indicates a persons values, boundaries, and their aesthetic sense. Mars represents a persons will, desire, and assertiveness. Pluto indicates the soul's greatest desire in this life, and the soul's greatest wounding. The wound must be healed before the soul can get on with it's greatest desire. Neptune speaks of the soul's greatest truth, but also, where we delude ourselves.

Karmic astrology is the study of the soul's journey in this current incarnation. It can identify your life's purpose and indicates at what times in your life you will feel the urge most strongly to explore your life purpose. It can indicate what theme your soul is working on in this life and other lives, such as money, relationships, fairness, trust, etc. The karmic chart can identify what past life issues you are still unconsciously carrying, that may be interfering with the soul's journey in this life.
